The Mormon Church is the only true church
"I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong;...all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: 'They draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof."
-Joseph Smith, Pearl of Great Price, History 1:19
- Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shalt be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
- Matthew 28:18 "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"
If you accept that Jesus spoke these words to Peter and believe that Jesus was telling the truth, then you must accept that the Church that Jesus founded under Peter is the only true Church, that the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
With the second verse, Jesus commissions the disciples to teach all nations to obey everything he had commanded and He promises to be with them always!
If you accept these versus, where is there room for the Church to fall into apostasy? Where is there room for new revelations? Jesus came to save the world and ordered his disciples to teach all nations everything He commanded. Why would He come to America to do what He commanded his disciples to do?
The answers are simple. The Church never fell into apostasy, so there was no reason for Joseph Smith to restore the Church. There is no room for new revelations, because Jesus revealed all the commandments that He wanted us to follow and empowered Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic Church, to spread the good news to all nations.
